Documenting women’s leadership in Vanuatu

Vanuatu is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, where women are living on the frontlines of the climate crisis. This project documents the strength, leadership and resilience of Ni-Vanuatu women as they organise, prepare for disasters, protect their communities and build resilience in the face of escalating climate risks.

Working in partnership with ActionAid Australia, the series highlights women-led early-warning systems, collective organising and grassroots solutions that challenge exclusion and redistribute power. It reflects an intersectional feminist, human rights–based approach — centring the rights, knowledge and agency of women who are driving change in their households, communities and national movements.
